Frequently asked questions.
General
Do you serve clients outside Brazil?+
Yes. We work with pharma, biotech and CROs across Europe, North America and Asia. All communication, documentation and dossiers can be delivered in English, and our processes follow ANVISA, FDA, EMA and ICH standards.
What is the average project timeline?+
Most bench projects are delivered in 6 to 12 weeks. Cell line authentication (STR) has an average 10-day turnaround. Regulatory validation studies vary by product — we send a detailed timeline with the scope.
Services
How does Base Científica differ from a traditional CRO?+
We do not compete for CRO sponsors. We act as an advanced scientific engineering arm, executing the complex assays a traditional CRO cannot absorb in-house. Many CROs hire us on a white-label basis.
Do you develop assays from scratch?+
Yes. If the sponsor has an innovative molecule or a new modality (mRNA, gene therapy, complex biologic), we design, optimize and validate the analytical protocol from scratch, integrating bioanalytics, cell and molecular biology.
Quality
What certifications and compliance do you hold?+
We operate in compliance with ANVISA, FDA, EMA, ICH, ISO 17025 and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Cell line authentication follows the ANSI/ATCC ASN-0002 standard.
How is project confidentiality guaranteed?+
Every project runs under a strict NDA. Data, protocols and results are segregated by client and internal access is restricted to the team directly allocated to the study.
Commercial
How does the commercial process work?+
You send a briefing or fill out the RFI/RFP form. Within 24 business hours a PhD specialist reaches out to design the technical scope. A detailed commercial proposal follows within 5 business days.
Is there a minimum project value?+
We do not work with fixed hourly packages. Our minimum is defined by the scientific complexity of the study — cell line authentication starts at single-scope engagements, while development programs can extend over several months.
Authentication
How do I send my cells for STR authentication?+
We accept cell pellets, extracted DNA or live culture. We ship the collection kit and instructions after commercial acceptance, and issue the report within 10 calendar days of sample receipt.
Are the reports accepted by international journals and regulatory agencies?+
Yes. Our report follows the ANSI/ATCC ASN-0002 standard, recognized by journals with mandatory authentication policies (Nature, Cell, PLOS) and by regulatory agencies.
